The Gold Mine

"The Gold Mine" is one of the most performed plays by St. L. Kostov, a classic of Bulgarian dramaturgy. Written more than a hundred years ago, I will never cease to be amazed that nothing essential in the life of Bulgarians has changed. We still continue to hope that some miracle will happen and suddenly we will become rich and happy. We still try to please wealthy Europe and believe that someone will help and love us just because we are obedient and good. An unripe, infantile people. Poor and gullible to the point of stupidity. The leading roles in the production are entrusted to the incredible stage partners Maria Sapundzhieva and Toncho Tokmakchiev.
