The Color of Deep Waters

Palace intrigues, conspiracies, desire for power and the throne, hidden longings, fear, loneliness, love and strength. In this story about the clash between two queens – Elizabeth I and Mary Stuart, there is everything: a struggle for power and supremacy, self-sacrifice, betrayal and love, and the stakes are high because it is a matter of life and death. One is a queen. And the other is a queen. These two queens are very similar – both are intelligent, lonely women who inhabit their ivory towers, but at the same time they are different. One spends her whole life searching for love, the other sacrifices love in the name of being strong. However, behind the apparent battle between the two women there is something more. They are not fighting only for power. They have a cause. And that is something that is very lacking today. Because what is power when you cannot even control yourself? Is power worth anything when you have no ideas? ASKEER Award 2018 for Contemporary Bulgarian Dramaturgy by Olya Stoyanova
