About the show

Who bears greater guilt – the fraudster or the blinded innocent who allows themselves to be deceived and exploited? And when does openness turn into naivety, trust into foolishness, and obedience into slavery? Director Garo Ashikyan provides answers to these questions, offering a new interpretation of the classic comedy "Tartuffe," which premiered on Tuesday at the stage of the Anton Strashimirov Drama Theatre in Razgrad. Theater enthusiasts had the opportunity to peek through the keyhole of a home from 300 years ago and witness a somewhat forgotten life that remarkably resembles our own. In the role of the pious fraudster Tartuffe, actor Alexander Bozhanov embodied the character, taking advantage of the blind and unconditional trust of the nobleman Orgon – played by Yani Yozov. The stage showcased the talent of established artists Mariyana Brankovanova, Veselin Borisov, Aidan Feruh, Evgeni Stefanov, Nikolay Syarov, and Yordan Krushkov. With Molière's virtuosic text, Mihaela Mihailova, Dimitrina Gineva, and Krum Netsov made a convincing debut, performing in full symbiosis with the other theater actors.
