Constellations

If there is something stronger than time, it is love. In "Constellations," a man seeks a path to his lost beloved – beyond reality, into a dimension where memories and feelings create new worlds. How far and how long does life extend? Is it possible even beyond its end? What does "time" mean in the context of the deterministic assumption that end and beginning are one and the same thing? Are the choices we make and uphold daily an expression of free will? Probably yes, if love and memories are capable of transporting us to another dimension where we can forgive ourselves for our mistakes, rethink our situations and destinies, overcome pain, and perceive the multidimensionality of the meaning of being together. "Constellations" is a mysterious game for two that takes us far into self-knowledge. In the complex, ambitious, and blessed roles of Roland and Marianne, Nencho Kostov and Radina Dumanian embody themselves. "Constellations" is the second project realized under the Apostol Karamitev Program. The program launched in 2023 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great Bulgarian actor Apostol Karamitev. The main goal of the initiative is to provide an opportunity for the presentation of various forms and aesthetics, to offer new interdisciplinary perspectives on theater-making, to discover interesting authors, ideas, and practices, to present new artistic challenges to the troupe and staff of the theater, and to give visibility to new or unknown authors to the National Theater who will bring their own understanding of a stage production.
