About the show

Alexey Salnikov's novel "The Petrovs in the Flu and Around It" caused a sensation in Russia in 2016, and a year later won the Critics' Award "NOS" and "National Bestseller." The likelihood that the stage version and the play by director Boyan Kracholov will cause a sensation is just as great. Because the seasonal flu virus, which is the "engine" of the performance's action, not only changes the optics of our everyday life but also shows that nothing is what we think it is, and we should not rush to conclusions about the people around us, nor about events, nor about life. Also because the characters in this fantasy adventure between reality, dreams, and visions prove that average people do not exist, that in fact the life and daily routine of a person who considers themselves insignificant and whom no one calls by their first name, a person with a boring and ordinary job, is filled with miracles, with skeletons in the closet – a life funny, terrifying, majestic, mysterious, shocking. Promenade Theater The promenade theater represents a type of theater in which the audience is not seated in the auditorium but moves to reach the locations of individual scenes. Such a theater implies a certain level of interactivity on the part of the spectators, due to the fact that in most cases there are no clearly indicated places where they can position themselves – they have much greater freedom in their transitions, in choosing their viewpoint, in shortening the distance with the actors, even with their presence in individual scenes. This theatrical experience also implies the viewer's readiness to be led by the actor and to communicate with him. Promenade theater in most cases contains elements of site-specific or immersive theatrical practices. Site-specific performances are made with a view to the given conditions, architecture, and features of a given space, striving to make the fullest use of them. Immersive ones, on the other hand, aim for the complete immersion of the spectator in the theatrical event – by providing the opportunity to interact with certain elements of the performance. "Do not look for a plot. Find your own path... Do not delay. Let the actors lead you. And do not worry about the signs – you will recognize them. Do not get lost. The theater can be a very scary place." Therefore, wear comfortable shoes and have an outer garment at hand.
