Nirvana

One night in 1913, a gunshot rings out, putting an end to a romantic Bulgarian love. From that moment on, the story of Lora Karavelova and Peyo Yavorov in Konstantin Iliev's play "Nirvana" ceases to be a biographical account and becomes a myth – about the impossibility of two people merging without losing themselves; about the eternal struggle between Eros and Thanatos. All this happens moments after the sinking of the "Titanic", shortly before Europe destroys itself in World War I – the world as we know it is cracking. And somewhere there, amidst the deafening roar of the approaching historical storm, two people are locked in a cage of madness, a battle in which there will be no winner. Two beings – simultaneously predator and prey, lion and antelope, embraced so tightly that the kiss turns into death. Love here does not save, does not forgive, does not elevate, but burns, obsesses, consumes, and relentlessly leads to the eternal waters and dark horizons of infinity. This is not just the Bulgarian story of two great figures; it is the European story of loss and surrender. "Nirvana" is not a requiem or a memorial service; it is an autopsy and resurrection of love and dedication.
