Intrigue and Love

A play about love and death, honor and duty, truth and lies, court intrigues and secret machinations, the fate of an ordinary person unwittingly drawn into them, the power of the state and the power of love – all this is Friedrich Schiller's play "Intrigue and Love". It is also about music and art, obstacles to true and sincere feelings, trials on the path to fidelity, and many other questions, emotions, and challenges facing modern people. Written in 1784, "Intrigue and Love" was designated by the author as a "bourgeois tragedy," which according to the terminology of the time means that ordinary people, not gods or kings like the heroes of classical tragedies, are placed in a tragic situation. It is precisely they whose fate the audience has shared for nearly three centuries. Dr. Svetlana Pancheva "Intrigue and Love" on the stage of the National Theatre 1905. Direction - Ivan Popov.
