About the show
"Some Girls" by the world-famous American playwright and film director Neil LaBute, popular among Bulgarian theater audiences with productions of his plays "Clean House," "The Shape of Things," and "The Break-Up," tells the intriguing story of a writer, in whose role the irreplaceable IVAN YURUKOV transforms. His character, overwhelmed by the temptations of his first significant successes, challenges fate and his own talent by meeting some of his former beloved women in hotel rooms. Why? To awaken his imagination? Or the pain of an unfulfilled life? To ask for forgiveness, or to seek plots for his future work? Or perhaps, to start his future family life anew... A man, driven by his career, meets four different, sentimental and merciless, familiar yet unknown women simultaneously, and together with them "dances" on the edge of the unexperienced. And it draws us into unraveling a great mystery – whether he is a Don Quixote in love or an "emotional terrorist." In contrast to the "typical" hotel rooms where meetings with the past take place, the women chosen from the "love list" are very different and unexpected. What else does the writer expect to learn from his school love Sam, whose skin is inhabited by the wonderful STEFANIA KOLEVA, in her many facets, whom we remember and love for her unique roles in theater and cinema? What drives him to rediscover the extravagant and willful, uninhibited Tyler? In her character, we will see a surprising transformation of ILIANA KOZHABASHEVA. The meeting with Lindsey, the beautiful, impressive lady with an undying charm, played by BOYKA VELKOVA, is a true test for Ivan Yurukov's hero. But his emotional world will turn out to be most vulnerable in the clash with Bob, whose complex essence is recreated with impressive precision by ANA PAPADOPOULOU. "Can one start 'clean' in love? Can all disappointments, failures, betrayals, broken illusions be erased? Because accumulated experience suggests more what love is not. Everyone talks about it, about how important it is for happiness, but the truth is that in most lives it leads to dissatisfaction, sensory fatigue and resignation more than to happiness. Unfortunately, I do not know a couple whose love story I would want mine to resemble. In the play, a writer goes 'hunting' for something real in love. The question is whether he can find it if he hasn't first cleared his own motives to do so?!... It turns out that love does not tolerate being a means to achieve something else. All this, of course, with an enviable sense of humor from the expositor LaBute." Stefan Spasov
