About the show
"Baby on Board" is a contemporary play – a comedy with elements of "black humor." The action unfolds on the edge of absurdity as young protagonists collide with a reality for which they are absolutely unprepared. Completely alone and helpless with their newborn baby, they feel that their love is under threat. Improvisation, characteristic of Durang both as a writer and as an actor, is embedded in the play, which starts from familiar life situations and stereotypical perceptions to deconstruct or build upon them in unpredictable ways. Vasilena Radeva's production moves between the real and the unreal, the true and the dreamed, farce and satire, turning into something like an anthology of what a young parent should not be. The dialogue is light, the story – engaging, and it offers to view problems in a parodic style saturated with humor. The performance is built around an acting quartet, where each member is an individual with diverse skills for quick transformations and a precise sense of the text's genre nature. The end of the play sounds both as a gentle tease and as a question – is it possible not to repeat our parents' mistakes?
